Heel and Toe: Róbert Märcz International Racewalk Meet

WALKER OF THE WEEK
When 9 year old Angus Hay had his first walk with the Victorian Race Walking Club in April 2013, he recorded the rather inauspicious time of 8:56 for the U9 1km. When you look at Angus now, as a 12 year old, you would hardly recognize him as the same walker. He laboured through a series of disqualifications in that first season as he tried to master the technique and, to his credit, he was successful. During this last winter season, he has regularly broken his PBs week by week and is showing the benefits of hard work and determination. Yesterday he competed in the U16 1500m walk at the School Sport Victoria Schools Championships at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, coming 4th in a PB 8:32.43. Well done Angus – you are my Walker of the Week.
